Welcome to Los Altos Rhythmic Gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics

Rhythmic Gymnastics is a beautiful, predominantly female Olympic sport that involves a combination of ballet, body movement, and apparatus handling. There are five apparatus: Rope, Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon. One must master all five to be successful.
Gymnasts absolutely fall in love with rhythmic gymnastics through creative dance, the fun they have learning new apparatus skills, and the flexibility they develop.
Our gymnasts learn the value of hard work and are able to create life-long friendships. Our goal is to provide a positive, educational, fun, and safe environment for your children.

Recreational Program

Our recreational program welcomes girls aged 4 and older, offering a supportive environment for beginner athletes or those seeking a non-competitive atmosphere.
Participants will be instructed in fundamental rhythmic gymnastics techniques, incorporating elements of stretching, body conditioning, creative movement, and dance, while also learning basic apparatus skills with hoops, balls, ribbons, and ropes.
As part of our program, recreational gymnasts have the opportunity to perform in our Holiday Show in December and our end-of-school-year showcase in May, providing a platform to display their skills in a fun and non-competitive setting

Pre-competitive Program

Our pre-competitive program offers a non-competitive approach, serving as a crucial transition toward competitive levels. While initially requiring a moderate time commitment, this program gradually intensifies to meet advancing skill levels. Emphasizing shape refinement, core skill mastery, strength building, flexibility enhancement, and endurance development, participants also begin learning routines for upcoming competitive seasons.
They also showcase their progress at our annual holiday exhibition in December and our end of the school year event in May.
Rhythmic Gymnastics apparatus used in this level: Rope, Hoop, Ball, Ribbon.

ACRO for DANCERS

Our Acro for Dancers class is the perfect fit for dancers, performers, and individuals looking to learn the specific technique of a variety of acro-body skills. This class is designed to enhance your acrobatic abilities and incorporate them into your dance or performance routines. The class is held once per week and begins with a light warm-up to prepare the body for the learning process. Participants will then transition into the instruction and practice of various acro skills, including but not limited to: Illusion: A popular acro skill that creates the illusion of floating or balancing on one leg while extending the other leg in the air. Walkover (Forward/Backward): This skill involves smoothly transitioning from a standing position to a bridge position or vice versa, either moving forward or backward. Chest-roll: A dynamic skill where the body rolls forward or backward, using the chest as the primary contact point with the floor. "Barrel": A challenging skill that involves rolling the body in a circular motion, similar to a barrel roll. Cartwheel Variations: Participants will learn various variations of the traditional cartwheel, including one-handed cartwheels, aerial cartwheels, and more.
